A Jewish woman’s unconventional quest to find Jesus in modern Israel With candor and an intimate knowledge of the Land and its people, Bobbie Ann Cole takes you on some intriguing time travel to Israel such as to the ceremonial slaughtering of Passover lambs in the nearby temple, as Jesus died on the cross. Her moving and compellingly-written autobiography of making Aliyah to Israel with her husband, Butch effectively interweaves Israel’s ancient and modern Christian history with biblical references. She reveals the challenges that have faced Jewish believers from Peter and Paul on down to the present day, including her own. The underlying antagonism of her beloved Israel towards Messianic Jews leaves her sneaking around, keeping her true identity secret. A blend of memoir, travelogue, historical document and investigative journalism, Love Triangles is not like other Christian nonfiction books and books about the Bible. It’s not about theological principals; it's about love. Discover • How Jesus the Jewish theologian used Jewish festivals to underscore His message. • The story of Jesus’ Bar Mitzvah. • Why Jewish atheists may move to Israel but not believer Jews. • Why Judaism rejects Jesus as Messiah.

"I have been reading and studying the Old Testament and the early Christian church for the last few years, focusing on Jesus as a Jew. The early believers were Jews. I found this book to be a great source to help me understand the connection even better and to also understand more about the Messianic Jews. Thank you Bobbie for sharing your experiences."

  • I had the good fortune of meeting the author in a professional setting and hearing about some of her work. What impressed me the most was her passion and conviction for her work and her beliefs. I later learned that this book would be released and knew then that I would read it immediately upon release. This is a really great human interest story and told in such a relatable way that I felt as if I were there! Not only did I learn her story, but I learned a lot about Israel and how the differing cultures co-exist, and clash, in the holy land. By the time I was at Chapter 9, Christmas with Gas Masks in the Land of Jesus, I knew that I was going to finish the book right then there and not put it back down. I love how Bobbie Cole tells us about her "dummy run" in order to be prepared for an emergency, very engaging - an example of how I became involved in what was happening for her and her surroundings. I especially enjoyed learning about the real people in her life, whether it was friends (i.e. Ben & Melissa) or her husband, Butch. This is the first work I have read by Bobbie Cole, and I'm guessing won't be the last.
  • This is a true life story of a lady and her husband, and their journey to Israel. It seems that those who are Jewish, and yet claim Jesus as the Messiah face a lot of oppression from their homeland. They can even be denied citizenship to professing Jesus as God, yet being an atheist is accepted.
I have always been fascinated with the beliefs of the Jewish faith. Especially since it is so closely related to my own. The Jewish nation is after all God's chosen people. A good read to those wanting to learn more about those who are Messianic Jews.
  • The Love triangle is a passionately and true recreated love story about Isreal (that Jesus loved). An historical read and investigative journalism, Love Triangles is not about theological sentiment but a powerful cultural heritage and love documentary GOD, Jesus and Mankind. I love the way you bring the Bible story alive in the ways and life of the GOD people, Isrealites.

  • Some parts, such as the author's personal story and her discussion of Jewish festivals was interesting. At times, I felt lost. There was a lot of name dropping and I found it hard to keep track. Other times my interest wandered. I did learn something so I am giving it 3 stars.
  • Having a desire to someday visit Israel, and having Jewish ancestry, I was mesmerized with the descriptions of places, people, customs, along with some history, supporting Bible verses, and personal accounts of those living there.
  • This is a very well written and readable book. It really opened my eyes to a great and different perspective of Israel. Thanks
  • I started reading this book so I could write a review. I was drawn in from the first paragraph of the preface! Now, I'm reading this one for my own enjoyment.

The author skillfully brings together a variety of themes and benefits throughout the book that kept me fascinated and kept me from rushing through the book. I wanted to take my time and enjoy (or struggle through) each step in the journey. Cole takes us on a journey through the biblical lands in a way that no other similar book has impacted me. She is much more than a tour guide pointing out the paths where Jesus walked. She brings us along with unique insights and perspectives.

I especially appreciate how she interacts with biblical passages as she visits the biblical land. We are able to gain new insights on the joys and struggles of living out Christian faith in a land that is both so rich in and so blinded by tradition. Just as in the Gospels, we see that when people encounter Jesus, they must make a choice to be with him or against him. The author shares her observations and her own experiences of living out a life committed to Jesus in a land that originally rejected him when he came to demonstrate his amazing love for them. I have to admit, I struggled with those parts of the book. I like the happy stories. But, I grew to appreciate the reminder that when Jesus calls it usually means going against the general flow of culture.

One of the unexpected benefits (beyond enjoying a well-written book), was to be welcomed as a guest into Jewish culture through the eyes of a Jew and a Christ-follower. I love learning about various cultures and traditions. This was a great opportunity to learn some of the vocabulary, traditions and customs of Israel through the eyes of a Messianic Jew.

Additionally, although, a relatively small thing, I appreciate how the author inclusively brings both North American and European readers along on the journey. I just know it takes conscious effort to keep different readers' cultures in mind.

I would wholeheartedly recommend the book. It will both enrich and challenge you.
