- The book introduces the reader to the Camino de Santiago, but the 31 day journey was much too repetitive, more a litany of what they ate for breakfast, lunch & dinner & a glimpse of the hostels where they stayed each night. I enjoy hiking, but this journey didn't get me excited about taking this "famous" hike. After the first ten days, I scanned the other days because it was evident there wasn't much change any day.
She learned a few things about herself along the way, but nothing that she probably wouldn't have discovered through other experiences in her life.
Sorry, wouldn't waste my time with this one. - I really enjoyed reading this book! It really shares the whole experience of her walk. It was so interesting to actually read all the details of how she prepared for this journey. There were so many times that she could have just given up and headed home but she pushed herself physically and mentally and kept going. I am amazed at the details of the people she met and all the places that she stayed and food she ate. Jan has opened her heart and soul on the book. My only suggestion is not to read right before bed because I walked and climbed many a trail with her all night! The book is an easy read that you will not want to stop reading.
- I really enjoyed reading this memoir. It was an exciting experience to follow along with the journey across Spain. I couldn’t put it down. This story kept me up late at night, since I work during the day and I’m only able to read before bed.I highly recommend this book!

- Anyone who wants adventure should read this book!! The author’s honesty about how her adventure changed her is refreshing, as is her positivity.
- A good read. Highly recommend!
- I just finished reading your book and wanted to comment and tell a story sort of related to it. First, what an amazing adventure you had! I am totally impressed at this amazing accomplishment and would have never imagined the difficulty of the journey (in so many ways) had I not read the book. I just finished reading it yesterday and was empathizing with the story about losing the shell from your bracelet. Just after Thanksgiving I went to put on my Sapphire cross that my husband gave to me just after we married and I joined his church. It was missing from its usual hanging place and after a very thorough search I still could not find it. I cried because it is very special to me and one of the first and only pieces jewelry that he has given me. Searched for weeks, asked in places that I might have lost it, still could not find it. Yesterday, for some really unknown reason, I looked in my jewelry bag that I use for travel, even though I have looked in it at least 3 times since losing the necklace. This time, I stuck my finger up under the edge of the zipper and there it was!!! Not sure how I could have missed it all the other times, but..... kinda spooky. I thought it was especially spooky since I had literally just finished reading the book, and the part about your shell, not more than an hour before. So, maybe more Camino magic??
I enjoyed reading about your adventure and hope that you continue to experience growth and inner peace as a result of your hike/journey. Thank you for sharing it and for your hard work it putting it on paper.
This book would be a great read for anyone thinking about making this trip or anyone who isn't sure if they have the strength to start out on a journey, physical or spiritual, and make it to the end. Lots of good information about places to stop and eat/stay along the way and difficulties at particular places in the hike. - I highly recommend this heartfelt memoir and travelogue about Janet's hike across Spain on the Camino de Santiago. She bravely took on a hike across Spain at age 50, having never hiked before. This book can be used as a guide for anyone considering a long distance hike or a similar adventure or bucket list item. She details the experience from preparation to completion in a genuine and honest portrayal of lessons learned and friendships made along "The Way."
